For westerners in Taiwan, Christmas can present a bit of a conundrum — where can you get a real homecooked Christmas meal, with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and all the fixings? You can go to a restaurant, but you may end up overpaying for a meal that's just so-so, and who goes to a crowded restaurant on Christmas, anyway?
This year, we have a better idea for Christmas dinner — we're making our own!
On the afternoon of 12/25, we're getting together at the URS155 kitchen to prepare our own Christmas meal.
With the exception of the turkey (the only thing we need to order out, because our oven is a commercial baking oven a tad too short for a bird!), we'll be preparing everything ourselves. That includes:
* stuffing
* mashed potatoes & gravy
* real cranberry sauce
* sweet potato casserole
* green bean casserole
* pumpkin pie baked from scratch
* cookies baked from scratch
* mulled wine
Over dinner, we'll exchange gifts and have some other festive activities (family traditions, anyone?)
